The market has been running for more than two decades.

Market committee member Justine Kingan said the market has sought to help the school by contributing its proceeds.

"It was set up as a fundraiser for the school to help fund additional resources and programs for the school, and support for teacher professional development," she said.

Halls Gap Primary School principal Natalie Dowsett said the market has undoubtedly served this purpose.

"The fundraising money goes to things like swimming lessons, school excursions, replacing sports equipment, and books for the classroom. So, it definitely assists with families being able to afford those sorts of things," she said.

"As a school, our funding is quite limited, so the fundraising certainly helps.

One of the recent projects the proceeds from the market has funded is the school's oval's resurfacing.

"The oval has been resurfaced with new turf and sprinkler systems have been implemented throughout the school," Ms Dowsett said.

"It's been a great help to have everything green and lush throughout the seasons for where the students play.

"The money for that came purely from the market's fundraising."

The market has also grown to be a significant attraction for visitors.

Ms Kingan said this had given it further purpose within the township.

"It's evolved into wanting to support the local visitor economy, people are definitely drawn to markets that have handmade or locally made products and things like that," she said.

The market will run from 9am to 1pm at Halls Gap Recreation Reserve, with another planned for Sunday, April 4.
