A man who allegedly stole more than $1000 in personal belongings has been arrested and has been remanded into custody.

Stawell Police allege between 9.30pm on Wednesday, February 24, and 10am on Thursday, February 25, items were stolen from a vehicle on Smith Street in Stawell.
Police immediately commenced an investigation and identified a person of interest.

As a result, a 32-year-old male was arrested on Saturday, February 27 and charged with several different offences.
A search warrant was conducted at Stawell premises, where police allege many property items were linked to the investigation.
The alleged offender will now face the Horsham Magistrates' Court at a later date.
Stawell Police's Acting Senior Sergeant Eddie Malpas said he was happy with the work of his officers.

"This is an extremely pleasing result," he said.
"Our members were able to quickly identify lines of enquiry, apprehend an alleged offender and provide a positive outcome for the victim in a timely manner.
"The incident should also serve as a reminder for the broader community in terms of keeping their valuables safe.
"Don't leave items of value inside vehicles, even for short periods, if it can be avoided."
