Victoria's new COVID-19 restrictions imposed by the Victorian Government have shocked hospitality businesses with the Gift Hotel choosing to close its doors and not offer an take-away services for the weekend.

The Gift Hotel's manager Kyle Chamberlain said the business had no choice but to shut until lockdown restrictions lifted because it is not financially viable to be be open in such a minimal capacity,
"We will be shutting down completely, we won't be offering take-aways or anything over the next five days," he said.

"There is no incentive, we won't make any money out of it and there is no point getting people in and out while they are in lockdown and there is no need to stay open.
"We have already had a few cancellations and it is not ideal.
"We go ahead today and we will be closing at 11 o'clock tonight, before the restrictions come in force and that will pretty much be the end of us over the next five days.
"It's not ideal, but it is what it is. We have to do the right thing so that we can be open again in five days."
