An innocent motorist has been left with a hefty repair bill after their car was damaged in the Stawell Woolworths car park in January.
The car was damaged on Saturday January 30, with Stawell Police now asking the public for more information to help find the culprit.
A police spokesperson said the the victim parked their black sedan car in the Woolworths upper-tier carpark bounded by Scallan and Church streets between 2pm and 5.30pm.
During this time the car was damaged, which resulted in a large, deep scratch on the rear driver's side quarter-panel, leaving a costly repair bill.
It is unknown how the damage occurred and Stawell police are appealing for any information regarding the incident.
"If the incident was due to a traffic collision, it is disappointing to think that someone may be aware of the damage they have caused to the victim's vehicle, and made the decision to leave the scene without reporting the matter to police or attempting to make contact with the owner of the vehicle," a police spokesperson said.
If anyone has any information that could assist with the investigation, contact Stawell Police on 03 5358 8222, quote incident number 210036048 and ask for Senior Constable Thomas or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
