Stawell Fire Brigade has elected four new members and a new captain to lead the team of volunteers over the next 14 months.

On Tuesday, February 2, the fire brigade held their biannual elections at an open meeting where former first lieutenant Mal Nicholson was elected captain.
His leadership team will be formed along with Guy Holden, who was elected as first lieutenant, Aaron Phillips as second lieutenant, Ross Erwin as third lieutenant, Aaron Croft as fourth lieutenant and Jason Willis as the fifth lieutenant.
Mr Nicholson said he was looking forward to task the of leading the team after a tough 2020.

"It is a fairly time consuming job, but if you have got a good team behind you that makes it easier," he said.
"I want to keep our brigade functioning, we are a very strong brigade.
"I just want to support the community and I am pretty passionate about the work we do.
"I have been involved with the Stawell Fire Brigade for more than 15 years and I have also been a member at Glenorchy too, so I have been a member of the CFA for a long time."
Mr Nicholson also said he is looking forward to bringing members back to the brigade after a busy and challenging year in 2020.
"Last year we couldn't really train at all, but we did a bit of online work and we got members to do those last year as we were coming into the summer period," he said.
"It was good just to get members back and interacting with one and other because we are sort of like a big family.
"A lot of people were missing that weekly catch-up that we usually had during the year and there was a lot of people who were struggling without it.

"A lot of people struggled with the fact they couldn't interact with any of their friends and the friendships are big aspect of the fire brigade.
This brigade management team will be in place for just 14 months until next year's elections, after last year's scheduled elections were delayed until this year.
Except for the experienced Ross Erwin and captain Mal Nicholson, the other four members are all new to the brigade management team
