The State Emergency Service has issued a minor flood warning for the Avoca River downstream of Charlton as the river rises after heavy rain in the region on Friday.

Minor flooding has developed at Yawong Weir on Sunday evening and more is expected to develop along the Avoca River at Charlton Town during Monday afternoon as floodwater moves downstream.
The minor flood level at Charlton is 3.50 meters, with the river expected to peak at around 4.70 metres overnight Monday into Tuesday.
The Avoca River at Yawong Weir peaked at 3.28 metres at 3:00 am Monday February 1 (minor flood level 3 meters), but is currently at 3.09 m and receding.

The Avoca River at Charlton is currently at 2.20 metres, but is expected to exceed the minor flood level of 4.00 m on Monday afternoon.
The river is expected to continue to rise until reaching peak levels around 4.70 metres overnight Monday.
Fortunately, no significant rainfall has fallen in the Avoca River catchment in the 24 hours and no significant rain is forecast for the remainder of Monday.
The State Emergency Service also reminded residents to monitor their situation and avoid floodwater.
