On Wednesday January 20, engineer and entrepreneur Eddy Ostarcevic's nomination for the Northern Grampians Shire Council Kara Kara Ward by-election was confirmed along with three other candidates.
Mr Ostarcevic has lived in the small town of Stuart Mill for 21 years and he wants more people to know how great the northern Grampians region is.
"As I said in my candidate nomination form, it is impossible to sell a secret and if we don't speak up it remains a secret," he said.

"It will remain a secret that we are a great place to live and work and we have a lot of things in our Shire that we are proud of and we have got to start yelling that from the top of our roofs."
After working as an engineer and engineering consultant for more than 30 years, Mr Ostarcevic identified housing shortages and infrastructure development as two key areas he would like to address if he were elected to council.
"Certainly, one of the big pressing items is the industrial estate up at St Arnaud as well as the housing issue, there seems to be a massive shortfall of housing and down our end of the Shire there is a lot of infrastructure that needs to be updated," he said.

"When the by-election came up I decided to take the opportunity because there are things I think I can contribute and there are a couple of issues I would like to address if I get into council.
"I bring those engineering skills, business management skills, financial skills and contractual law skills that I think I can use to help the Shire move forward.
"We have a diverse shire, we have different strengths in different parts of the Shire and we have got play to those strengths as a council."
Ballot packs will be mailed to eligible voters from Tuesday, February 2, with voting closing at 6pm on Friday 19 February.
