DIVISION ONE
Stawell and Ararat VRI have had some very close games over the past few seasons and the round nine match was also down to the last few ends. Grant Seeary went down to Shane Briggs by just two shots, Andrew Cray was well down early to snatch a win by two shots at the end of the game but once again it was some late telling bowls from Clayton Holcombe for VRI that got them the win by six shots.
Landsborough were at home and welcomed top of the table Stawell Golf.
Will Hodgetts had a close game with Gary Blackman with only three shots in it at the finish.
Greg Reading and David Kaczynski both had big wins and secured the points for the Golf side.
Lake Bolac were back at home and would have given themselves a great chance of getting a win over the Aradale side.
But in three close and low scoring matches the visiting Aradale side skippered by Jake Strafehl, Nugget Ohems and Gary Sherwell won all three matches to steal all the points on the day.
In the last match Chally were at home against Ararat to once again see one side get all of the points.
Shane Todd had a big win over Mick McGuire, while Jessie Austin and Chris Young both had close wins.
The ladder sees Golf well clear on top with Chally a game behind, Aradale VRI and Stawell are battling for the last two spots for the final four with Lake Bolac starting to loose touch with the top four.
This week's matches will see Aradale at home against Ararat.
The match of the round this week will see Golf come up against Chalambar at Golf.
Stawell will play Bolac at Stawell an VRI to welcome Landsborough, the home sides look to start favourites in all the matches in round 10.
DIVISION TWO
Ararat VRI were at home against the visiting Stawell combination.
David Coone and Rob Maconachie were all square at the end of the day.
A Dunn was too good for Donny Austerberry but it was the Trevor Skurrie rink that was the difference on the day winning 42 to 10 to secure the win.
Stawell Golf at home are a tough side to come up against and one of the top sides Bolac Red were unable to get any points on the day with Golf's skippers Little Mikey Burrett, Rosco Dobson and Ray Scobie all having good wins.
In the last match, Aradale trying to keep their final chances alive knocked off the top Bolac side for a great win.
Evergreen D Todd ws the big winner for Aradale while Jack Veale got some points for the visitors. Ararat had the bye this week.
The ladder sees the two Bolac sides and the two Stawell sides making up the top four positions. Ararat sits just outside the four with a chance of still figuring in the finals.
In the week's matches for round 10 will see Aradale and Ararat to go up against each other in what should be a close match.
Lake Bolac Black will be at home against an improving Stawell side in another match too close to call and Lake Bolac Red will also be at home and should be too strong for the visiting VRI side. Stawell Golf will have the bye.
