FIREFIGHTERS from Stawell and Dadswell Bridge were officially thanked for a total 612 volunteer working hours during the 2019-20 bushfires from the Premier of New South Wales.

51 shifts were conducted over five deployments at an average of 12 hours per shift, during what has been hailed as the worst natural disaster in living memory for the state.
The Stawell brigade responded to a request for a strike team to head to NSW from a period of November 11 2019 to December 15 2019.
A total of five deployments from the Stawell group were sent - a total of eight volunteers were deployed.
Northern Grampians Shire Council mayor Murray Emerson officially thanked the firefighters on behalf of the council.

"To the naked eye it probably doesn't mean much - but to the volunteers and certainly the representatives of the Northern Grampians Shire Council it means a great deal," he said.
"Working 612 hours collectively in circumstances that no doubt was faced while up in NSW is a remarkable achievement."
Cr Emerson said the council was appreciative of all those involved within the CFA.
"It's an essential service that no small community can do without," he said.
"At short notice groups have mustered together and got up to NSW and helped the fire services.
"It was a great effort by all those who went and those who also stayed behind and helped keep our community safe during that time."
