St Andrews had a late call up to compete in the final, after Buangor-Tatyoon withdrew on Saturday night.

Combine won the toss and elected to bat.

Skipper Sam Cocks said he always believed if you have the chance get the runs on the board in a T20 match.

"The pitch played pretty well yesterday and was still pretty hard today," he said.

"Even though we had a mini-collapse again - we got there in the end."

Combine was successful in gaining a position in the final after its win against Youth Club on Saturday.

A early-batting collapse on both days was supported by Matt Heffer and Jay Moody - the middle order batsmen heavily contributing to the score on the board.

"They got us a score that we could bowl at," Cocks said.

"We're spoilt for choice with our bowlers this year. We're quite confident if we get enough we can defend it with our pace attack that we've got."

Cocks said as an aggressive batting team, he thought batsmen tried to score too quick in the T20 matches.

"Just not having that extra time plays a part," he said.

"A few guys getting back into the swing of things and having their first hit in the last couple of days plays a part as well."

Cocks praised St Andrews' ability to bring together a side at late notice.

"It's a bit disappointing that they had to scramble a side together but it's a credit to them," he said.

"They performed really well throughout the T20 carnival so it probably warranted they got to have a go.

"It's great to see their ability to get a team together at short notice and a team that put up a mighty effort today.

"They obviously have that young core group of players that are going to be a pretty handy side in years to come.

Cocks said he was pleased with the all round team effort.

When asked if he could pick two stand-outs, he replied, but with difficulty.

"Obviously Jay Moody and Matt Heffer with the bat," he said.

"And Jayden McCartney got us three wickets in the middle there for very minimal runs.

"It's pretty hard to pick when you have a team of very good players."

Combine were 7-114 for their 20 overs while St Andrews managed 8-86.
