10-12 Seaby Street is listed on the Heritage Council Victoria's database as architecturally significant at a local level.
The house was built in 1890 for Mary Hobbs, widow of the wealthy philanthropist and miner owner, William Hobbs.
The single-story residence has undergone many upgrades and maintenance of its 'elaborate late Victorian style with unusual external and internal features'.
OTHER NEWS:
Listing agent, Terry Monaghan, of Monaghan's Real Estate, said it was the second time in his career that he has listed the property.
The current owner purchased the property in 2012.
"The current owner has not held back and has done everything that needed to be done to the house," he said.
"A lot of hidden work that you don't see like plumbing and electrical - things that cost a lot of money, especially in a house that size, has been done to this property.
"Usually, really old places have secrets. But this one doesn't. It's been extensively and comprehensively back to where it should be.
"The owner has used many local tradesmen to do the upgrades on the property as well."
Mr Monaghan said he believed the property presented good value listed at $1.3m.
"I expect it will sell for that," he said.
"We've already had one couple go through it.
"We're certainly very proud to be the listing agent of such a significant property in Stawell.
"I can't wait to see the people who want to look at it.
"Who it will bring to Stawell or will it be someone from Stawell who purchases the property."
Mr Monaghan said the listing took about two weeks to put the listing together.
"We wanted to make sure the listing of a house of this significance was done with the justice it needs," he said.
"To walk through the house, it is just jaw-dropping.
"To play our small part in the history of this house is really pleasing."
