The health service stated no residents were known to have had a recent COVD-19 illness or diagnosis but the service would be offered as a direct response to the wastewater testing.
"This is a demonstration of our coordinated regional readiness and response planning across the Grampians region - as a region have been working together to be ready," a spokesperson said.
"At Stawell Regional Health we know that are a number of people who live in Stawell work in Ararat.
"Those people might be concerned.
"Making early testing available is a way to support and be there for our community."
The service will be open every day across the AFL grand final long weekend and residents across the region were encouraged to call 5358 8630 to make an appointment, even if they had the mildest of symptoms.
