Police are investigating a house fire following an explosion on Halls Gap overnight.

Stawell Sergeant Eddie Malpas said emergency services were called to the Evans Place property at 10.30pm.
"A large explosion was heard and flames were observed coming from the property," he said.
"There was significant damage as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown, and as such the incident is being treated as suspicious unless determined otherwise."

Sergeant Malpas said no one was injuried in the incident.
"Police are still on scene and a CFA Fire investigator will be attending. The incident is being investigated by the Northern Grampians Crime Investigation Unit.
"Police are seeking the public's assistance in relation to the fire. If anyone has any information about the incident, we are asking that they contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
