New aesthetics and safety upgrades have taken place including resurfacing of the footpath, replacement of old bollards, upgrade to amenities like benches and tables, landscaping, and a replacement of the tourist information heritage trail board.

Northern Grampians Shire chief executive Liana Thompson said the whole area of Big Hill had been improved for locals and visitors to safely enjoy views over the "beautiful township".

"These works were undertaken within the current maintenance program budget and our wonderfully helpful Working for Victoria staff were utilised for the works," she said.

"These works have improved the visual impact of the area after some of the assets had become older and started to deteriorate."

In July, Northern Grampians Shire Council said they would welcome 16 new staff members in the coming weeks as positions made available under the State Government's Working for Victoria scheme are filled.
