The second biggest day on the club's calendar, second to the Easter Gold Cup, the Christmas races is a popular event for Christmas parties and get-togethers to celebrate the end of the year.
Club president Ian Nicholson said the annual event was a boost not only for the club but for the local community.
"We have people attending the Christmas race day from right across the region," he said.
"We won't know this year what, and if any, size crowd we can have until the government, and then the industry decide.
"After missing Easter this year the committee are looking forward to having a crack at the Christmas race day if we get the go ahead for crowds.
"Obviously, if restrictions stayed like they are right now we would still be able to race, but just with no crowds."
Nicholson said extra restrictions without crowds called for more work to be done from the volunteer committee.
If crowds were added, Nicholson said a lot of work would need to be done in the next few months.
"In a few more weeks we hopefully will know more and can start to do some more planning," he said.
"It obviously all depends on the virus and what level of restrictions we are at.
"We're temperature checking every training day, six days at week at the venue now."
Nicholson said without crowds at race days, costs were kept low and the club did have some support from the industry to help with out going costs.
"Bills still come in and need to be paid," he said.
"We are under the direction of the industry when it comes to operation under these guidelines.
"We'll just wait for Racing Victoria directions. Big accolades needs to go to them because they've kept racing going during this time."
