With the uncertainty around sport, the committee was forced to make the decision and turn its focus on supporting junior pathways if restrictions would allow.
It is a disappointing blow for the club who managed to restart again for the 2010-20 season after the club pulled its teams from the 2017-18 competitions mainly due to a lack of numbers.
"It is with much regret that the committee has decided to withdraw the Stawell Wildcats Basketball Association Men's CBL team for the season 2020-21 season," a statement from the committee read.
"Attempts to enter have sadly been complicated by COVID-19 which has limited volunteer opportunities."
At its recent AGM, three committee members were elected as well as one new one.

But executive roles were still left empty - including the position of chairman after Matt Bourke elected not to stand again.
"The goal for Stawell Wildcats Basketball Association in season 2020-21 is to focus on successfully running and expanding our junior program," the statement read.

"The committee has made the decision to meet again on September 25 at 7pm.
"We sincerely hope that there will be more clarity around local sporting restrictions and the impact of COVID-19 then.
"We are seeking interest from the parents of our juniors to help us keep basketball in Stawell alive for the up and coming Wildcats' players."
The committee welcomed anyone interested in any of the roles to reach out to the club. Basketball Victoria released information at the start of August when regional Victoria entered into stage three restrictions once more.
"Regional Victorian associations will move to a RED - 0 reactivation status as per the Basketball Victoria Return to Sport Guidelines under the newly implemented Stage 3 Restrictions," their statement read.
"These additional restrictions will require the rescheduling of Basketball Victoria Country events. We will announce these rescheduled event dates as soon as available."
