The Bureau of Meteorology advised winds averaging between 60km/h to 70km/h - with peak gusts of about 100km/h - were likely to develop in elevated areas late in the morning.

The State Emergency Service advised people to check loose items like outdoor settings, umbrellas, and trampolines to ensure they were safely secured.
Vehicles should also be moved under cover or away from trees.
The SES also advised people to stay indoors and away from windows, and to pull over away from trees, drains, and floodwater if driving conditions became dangerous.
