Shire staff have been busy delivering meals during the stage three restrictions.
Northern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Murray Emerson said the program was an essential meal delivery service for the elderly and those living with a disability that allows them to live independently for longer.
"We are very happy to be resourcing the Meals on Wheels program through the Positive Ageing department at Northern Grampians Shire," he said.
"The Meals on Wheels program is a partnership between Northern Grampians Shire, Stawell Regional Health and East Wimmera Health and together we supply more than 130 meals across the shire. This an admirable achievement for all parties.
"In March during the first wave of the Coronavirus pandemic we saw an increase in demand for the service by about 20 per cent. We do not currently have finalised usage data for the second wave and it is difficult to gauge on anecdotal evidence."
Cr Emerson encouraged residents who were interested in volunteering to call and register their interest as volunteers for the program "were always welcome" when restrictions were eased.
