In a statement on Monday, Sergeant Eddie Malpas said police were called to an address in the area at 12.30am on Saturday "due to reports of a large gathering".
"Upon arrival, police observed a number of young people at the address in breach of COVID restrictions," he said.
"Attendees at the gathering were spoken to and as a result, six penalty notices were issued in relation to breaching the stage 3 restrictions with further inquiries being conducted in relation to further breaches."
Under restrictions that have been in place since August 5, regional Victorians can only leave their homes for one of four reasons:
- to shop for food and necessary goods or services
- to provide care, for compassionate reasons or to seek medical treatment
- to exercise or for outdoor recreation
- for work or education, if you can't do it from home
Unlicensed driver caught at Stawell
In a separate incident on Saturday, Sergeant Malpas said Northern Grampians Highway Patrol and Stawell Uniform members intercepted a 32-year-old man driving in Stawell.
"Inquiries revealed that the male was unlicensed to drive," he said.
"As a result, his vehicle was impounded by police for a period of 30 days. During the intercept, the male became abusive towards police in a public area.
"He has been charged on summons in relation to unlicensed driving & was issued a penalty notice for behaving in an offensive manner in public.
"A 26-year-old female passenger who was in the vehicle at the time was issued with a penalty notice for breaching COVID restrictions as she was not wearing a face mask."
Across Sunday, Victoria Police issued a total of 216 fines to individuals for breaching the Chief Health Officer directions, including:
- 27 for failing to wear a face covering when leaving home for one of the four approved reasons
- 89 for curfew breaches in Melbourne, where stage four restrictions continue
- Conducted 3,294 spot checks on people at homes, businesses and public places across the state (total of 288,021 spot checks conducted since 21 March).
