StawellBiz has postponed its annual general meeting for a month in the hope to engage more members to come forward to help reignite the business group.
The business group meets on a semi-regular basis and is the main driving force behind Stawell's Christmas parade and Easter Saturday Main Street Sensation.
Without the two events, thousands of dollars will be lost for the retail and hospitality sector in Stawell.
Clark's Furniture proprietor Llewellyn Clark is a member of StawellBiz and said he believed all industry and sectors needed to support the networking group for it to thrive.
"We have achieved some really good outcomes over the years and there are some really positive projects coming to Stawell," he said.
"I'm so passionate about our community and StawellBiz provided and opportunity to bring the business community together.
"Even though people might come from different industries or businesses, we might find the same challenges across the region.
"It's a fantastic opportunity to work with like-minded people to overcome the challenges that come with operating in a small town."
Mr Clark said without the organisation, the heart and soul and voice for businesses of Stawell would be lost.
"StawellBiz supports all businesses and works with every business in Stawell," he said.
"It would be a blow to Stawell to lose that independent and extra voice that works with businesses and supports them.
"StawellBiz is the voice that can campaign on businesses behalf to where that voice needs to go."
Mr Clark said StawellBiz offered networking opportunities which helps drive passion into the business sector.
"We aren't just here to big note ourselves we are here to support the whole community," he said.
"It's such a rare opportunity to be able to connect and feel inspired by each other and see businesses grow and thrive in Stawell."
The StawellBiz will host a meeting on Tuesday August 11. Updates can be found on the Facebook page.
