The Stewart Bradley Research Centre and Pleasant Creek Courthouse Museum are closed for face to face visits and research due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It was a decision the volunteers and members didn't take lightly.
"Research enquiries are still welcome via email or phone," volunteer Greg Robson said.
"We are very conscious of the wellbeing of our volunteers and visitors during this time and we are maintaining updates as the situation changes.
"In the meantime, people wanting more information on what we do, or any history from Stawell and the area, they can keep up to date via our Facebook posts which feature articles and stories from our vast collection."
The Stawell Historical Society is the "proud" custodians of information, records, photos and objects telling the story of the town and district.
