We've all had our focus on hygiene sharpened over the past few months - and down in Tassie that's been cranked up a notch or two.
But now the Apple Islanders have revealed a state-of-the-art robot will be working in a Hobart hospital. And it's an Australian first.
Nearly $3 million has been invested in infection control procedures at the Royal Hobart Hospital and it's a win for staff, Health Minister Sarah Courtney says.
"Automated vehicles will support staff by delivering around 100,000 packed hospital instrument trays to the new sterilisers. This will help to reduce staff injury by removing the need for repetitious lifting," Ms Courtney said.
"This is the first time any hospital in Australia has used the robot."
