The centre was located within the Pickers Market which is due to close its doors on February 2.
Grampians Tourism has announced the centre is now open, at 48 Longfield Street in Stawell.
"Stawell information centre is another connector which will keep tourists in our patch, longer," Grampians Tourism chief executive Marc Sleeman said.
"We are located right next to the Historical Society so it provides an extra destination experience to travellers. It's not just an isolated visitor information centre. Information is available so people can learn about the rich history of the region, not just what's on offer now."
Mr Sleeman said there was a call out for volunteers interested in assisting visitors in our region.
"People from the area know those secret little tips which can enhance a visitor's stay," he said.
"We've been really well received so far from the community and I hope some people come forward who are willing to volunteer their time and drive tourism for the region."
Northern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Murray Emerson echoed Mr Sleeman's words, saying the best people to advise tourists about "local things" are "local people".
"An important aspect of the success of the new visitor information centre is we get some volunteers to help in the running of the day to day advice which is given to the passing tourists," he said.
"Northern Grampians Shire alongside Grampians Tourism will offer some professional help. We have to try and get this facility operating seven days a week so it is important we do get some people who are interested in volunteering put their hand up."
Cr Emerson said in "years-gone-by" the location of the tourist information centre was problematic.
"We had shifted it to various locations to try and make it more attractive both for our local community and passing tourist trade," he said.
"In reality, it hasn't worked so well, this far. The new venue looks to be an amazing venue.
"After discussions with Grampians Tourism, the contracted body to run our tourist centres, we identified, in our opinion, the one in Stawell wasn't working for us.
"We don't hide from the fact the last few years it might not have been handled very well - but we're stepping up to the plate now to say 'let's try and fix it'."
Cr Emerson said Grampians Tourism has "taken the reigns" and agreed, something needed to be done.

"As long as it gets the visitation we expect it will I think it will be a wonderful location for it to be," he said.
"We think the new location is a step in the right direction in getting a workable tourist information centre."
Mr Sleeman has encouraged any residents interested in volunteering at the centre to contact admin@grampianstourism.com.au.
