Halls Gap's Rhyeli Chamberlain is working on his batting skills. The bowler has made his top score of his cricket career this season and contributed with 18 runs on the weekend. With only two rounds to go before finals in the Grampians Cricket Association B Grade competition, the Gappers are out of the finals mix, but could still play an influential part in who makes the top four.
Where did you start your cricket career?
I'm in my seventh season of cricket. I started at Swifts-Great Western for a season and moved out to Halls Gap where I have played ever since.
What're your best figures with both the ball and bat?
As a bowler my best figures was 5-15 against Willaura two seasons ago. I'm not much chop with the bat. My highest score is 33 not out against Pomonal this year. I was pretty happy with it - I'm surprised if I make more than one run a day.
What are you currently watching on TV at the moment?
I'm watching Rick and Morty on Netflix.
Who's given you the best piece of advice in cricket?
Malcolm Russell always told me to try and pitch it up full and watch how your hand rolls over.
What do you find is the biggest challenge in cricket?
It would have to be batting. I'm not a very confident batsman.
Best memory as a junior cricketer?
It wold have to be playing with all my mates.
Best memory as a senior cricketer?
In my second year of senior cricket I can second in the bowling stats. I took 23 wickets for the season.
Funniest cricket moment you can remember?
Jackson Thomas getting a hat trick - he made me say this one.
Who's the best cricketer you've played with?
Halls Gap's Charlie McIntosh. He's a really good all round sportsman, great batsman and wicketkeeper.
Who's your favourite cricketer of all time?
Would have to be Marnus Labuschagne - he's a really good batsman.
Do you have any superstitions or something you do the same every week?
Nothing at all.
What's your signature dish in the kitchen?
Bacon and scrambled eggs.
Ravioli. I just buy the one from the supermarket with the sauce that comes with it.
