Star footballer Matt Tyler has signed with Rupanyup in the Horsham District football league, but the former AFL-listed player warns he will likely have a limited impact in 2020.
Tyler returned to his home club and played 15 games with the Panthers in 2018, but spent a season away from football last year due to ongoing injury trouble.
"To be honest, it's only a possibility that I'll even get out on the park - I don't know how the body will hold up," Tyler said.
"It's sort of my back is the main issue. I had a year off and it's feeling alright at the moment, but there's still a long way to go.
"I'm not overly optimistic. We'll just take it day by day."
Tyler said Rupanyup's sensational off-season had encouraged him to give football one final chance.
The Panthers have signed a handful of talented footballers this off-season, including Northern Territory stars Shannon Rioli, Leroy Larson, and North Central football league best and fairest Mitch Gleeson.
The club is hoping to play finals for the first time since 2012.
"It's pretty exciting - that was my main reason for coming back to play," Tyler said. "But even if I can't play a role on the field, it will good to be a part of it and help out where I can off the field.
"I've played under some pretty good coaches and have been around a while, so hopefully I can help (head coach) Jack Musgrove and help support him off the field.
"Hopefully we can get the side back into finals and pushing toward the pointy end as well. That is the goal."
Rupanyup president Rodney Weidemann said whatever Tyler could provide would be a big bonus for the club.
"We're pretty excited to have him back on board again," Mr Weidemann said.
"He's had injury problems and he's not 100 per cent sure what he will be able to bring.
"But we're pretty confident that when he's out on the park, he'll be pretty handy."
