New members are welcome to join the open and friendly group at it's first get together on January 31 where the annual general meeting will be hosted at 1pm, Ruby Room at Stawell Health and Community Centre.
U3A Stawell is a branch of the University of the Third Age, a self-help group, originating in France, with the purpose of allowing older people to take up and learn skills they had not had the time for in their youth
Befitting our more laid back life-style here in Stawell, the U3A is more social and innovative.
Stawell has enjoyed their own U3A for thirty years and in that time many formal and informal classes have evolved as well as many varied speakers, from an expert on Lentil growing in the Wimmera to the history of the Australian Slouch Hat; our bus trips and now carpooling trips to places of interest are legendary.
U3A Stawell's aim is to give your brain and body activity as well as a vibrant social life within a local setting.
For the brain this term there will be history of Stawell landmarks, movie day complete with popcorn and Jaffas, drama and creative writing will continue, along with music appreciation, German language class, words and numbers games; or you could just come along and relax with Tai Chi, art and craft, social lunches, interesting guest speakers, and coffee and chat Monday.
Membership costs are kept low at $20.00 every 6 months and is open to all over 55yrs.
For dates, times, and enrolment phone Karen 0400 583 066.
