EMERGENCY services have released advice over the bushfire at Rocky Point Road on Mount Ararat.
The fire is still under control but residents have been advised that smoke may be visible in surrounding areas and drivers should keep the roads clear to allow emergency services to respond.
District 16 operations manager Bernie Fradd said the fire has burned about 80 hectares.
"We've got crews out there today patrolling and monitoring the fire but by this evening we expect to have it contained," he said.
"There is still fire in the landscape out there and people will see fire at night, but ti's all within control lines - we expect it will be fine."
Mr Fradd added the layer of smoke blanketing Ararat today was due entirely to the fires in the east rather than any local fires.
