Speed restrictions will also be implemented on the Ballarat/Ararat/Maryborough, Bendigo, Geelong/Warrnambool, Seymour, Traralgon and Bairnsdale lines.
In Ararat temperatures are expected to reach 37 degrees, while in Horsham the mercury is set to hit 40.
Heat speed restrictions are enforced when the temperature is expected to reach 36 degrees and above due to the steel tracks expanding in the heat.
There will be drinking water on board trains and passengers are also encouraged to travel with bottled water, wear cool clothing and delay travel if they're feeling unwell.
A copy of the extreme heat timetable for each line can be downloaded from the V/Line website or passengers can ask for a copy from their nearest staffed station.
Coaches are continuing to replace trains between Ararat, Wendouree and Ballarat due to works on the Ballarat Line Upgrade. Trains continue to run between Ballarat and Southern Cross Station.
The Department of Transport is also reminding motorists to prepare for the hotter conditions, as vehicle breakdowns are more likely to occur in extreme heat.
Before setting off, drivers should check brakes, tyres, oil and water, and ensure there's enough fuel for the trip to avoid getting stranded.
In the event of a breakdown, drivers should stop or park in the shade and avoid parking on long dry grass, which becomes a potential fire hazard due to the hot exhaust system.
Never leave children or pets unattended in a parked car. Temperatures quickly rise to dangerous levels and just a few minutes can have tragic consequences.
The Department suggests carrying plenty of fresh drinking water and keeping hydrated.
Regional Victorians are also reminded to be aware of extreme danger when driving in bushfire conditions and leave early to avoid dangers.
