The event commences at 7pm with an informal meet and greet followed by two guests speakers.

Life coach Andrew Parsons will host the evening, as the guest speakers share their experiences of living through tough times.

"The event is targeted for all males within the community," Mr Parsons said.

"A representative will be there from Grampians Community Health on hand to help guide people into services available across the region.

"The idea I had when asked to host the event was to tap into the statistics. At the moment it's about one in eight males will experience depression, one in five will experience anxiety."

Mr Parsons said the talk would go hand in hand with the publicity of the Movember campaign and also International Day for Men which was on Tuesday.

"Depression and mental health is a big factor in people's lives, either directly or indirectly," he said.

"For some men, to be a man it's the stigma around being silent and strong and just push through emotions.

"Too many people have tried that and it doesn't work."

Growing up in the region, Mr Parsons said he was proud of how much mental health awareness had grown around the region, although, it still had a long way to go.

"We're in the shift still but we will get there," he said.

"We haven't measured the responses for the night but we have a round idea on how many people could attend.

"It's going to be a fantastic, non judgemental social evening and if one person can take something away or start a conversation with someone then the group has achieved what it set out to do."
