"We know how important Mount Isa is, it's resource rich and it's got great people," Ms Palaszczuk said.
"We'll be governing the state from there but also it's a great opportunity to talk to locals and understand more about the local community."
Ms Palaszczuk said that on Tuesday the government would host a summit on the North West Minerals Province.
"We're also planning for the mayors of the region to come down as well," she said.
"There'll also be a community reception on the Monday evening."
Ms Palaszczuk said the visit was a wonderful opportunity for people to bring issues to the government.
"If people want to see a minister about a particular issue I'm more than happy to try to facilitate that," she said.
"This is about the government listening and delivering for the region."
It follows a similar cabinet meeting in Maryborough earlier this month.
