It was fantastic to see Grampians region highlighted this week in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) as one of the Top 10 Places in the World to Travel in 2020 ... before everyone else does. A positive sign of future visitation growth for our spectacular region.

This month Grampians Tourism hosted 12 agents from Germany and Switzerland who were in the Grampians as part of the Tourism Australia, Corroboree Aussie Specialist trade event.
It was a flying visit touching base with partners like Royal Mail Hotel - Dunkeld, Paper Scissors Rock Brew Co, Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park, the Grampians Motel and the Views Restaurant, Livefast Cafe and Harvest Halls Gap.
There was an extra special welcome with Tammy Schoo, from Parks Victoria, who met the group very early at Boroka Lookout and took them on a ranger tour of some of the National Park highlights.
It was wonderful to accompany four Grampians tourism partners to Melbourne this month to present a 2019 product update to the team at Visit Victoria. Participating businesses included Heath and Hemley House, A.T. Richardson Wines, Seppelts (Destination Great Western) and Paper Scissors Rock Brew Co. who all delivering an inspiring product update. Adam Richardson from A.T. Richardson Wines provided a wine masterclass highlighting two difference shiraz vintages and an overview of our wine region and the significance of our wine heritage that dates back to 1868.
Congratulations to all the wineries and wine makers from the Grampians, Pyrenees, Henty and Ballarat regions who were involved in the 2019 Western Victorian Wine Challenge held last week in Ararat. Grampians Tourism is a sponsor of this event and I'm really happy to advise that Grampians Estate Tom and Sarah Guthrie were the big winners with judges, with best wine of show - St Ethels Shiraz, Kym Ludvigsen Memorial Award went to Tom Guthrie for this amazing wine and Grampians Estate were also awarded the most successful exhibitor of show.
Other notable winners were Bests Wines - riesling and rose, Seppelt - chardonnay and pinot noir, Summerfield Wines - cabernet sauvignon, Mount Avoca - merlot, Blue Pyrenees - midnight cuvee (museum white), Grampians Estate - shiraz (museum red) and Montara Wines - consumers wine of show - 2018 Montara riesling.
Grampians wine region also took home the most successful region award for 2019 - well done everyone!
Finally, the progress work on the Grampians Peak Trail is outstanding and we recently had a site inspection. Once completed the walk will attract an extra 30,000 visitors to the region.
