In addition to playing in a Horsham District football league match, Kerr will host a teaching session for the Lakers' juniors and give a speech at the club's Sportsman Dinner.

Kerr said he enjoyed venturing into country Victoria for one-off matches.

"I get a kick out of playing football in general, but I've played in several different leagues and I definitely prefer the country leagues. It's a really different feel," Kerr said.

"The culture around country football, especially in Victoria, is just magnificent. And it's generally a pretty good night after, which I always enjoy. Hopefully we will be celebrating a win."

The last time a former AFL superstar played in the Horsham District league, Brendan Fevola booted 12 goals for Edenhope-Apsley in 2014.

Kerr boasts an impressive AFL resume. He was a crucial part of the West Coast Eagles' 2006 premiership, forming a star-studded midfield alongside Chris Judd and Ben Cousins.

Kerr accumulated an astounding 114 Brownlow votes across his 12-year career, twice finishing in the top three at the Brownlow Medal.

Kerr was attracted to Taylors Lake via a connection with senior football coach Brandon Weatherson.

Weatherson played alongside Kerr in a one-off game with Glenthompson-Dunkeld in 2017.

"I played a reasonably good game of footy that day, so I'm under a little bit more pressure to play well," Kerr joked.

"I'll just go out there, try my best, and try to have a bit of fun with the boys."

Kerr also hoped to impart his experience and knowledge to the Lakers players and fans.

"Being at a football club where you've got impressionable young men, the general message will be to make healthy life choices, have fun, keep your head screwed on your shoulders, and, a lot of the time, don't do the things that I did," Kerr said.

Weatherson said it was a valuable opportunity for young players to learn from an AFL great.

"We want to showcase our football club and show how far we've come," Weatherson said.

"We want a good crowd and a good night, but it's not just money driven. It's about giving the young blokes someone to look up to and something to remember.

"Daniel is a great bloke and a really honest guy."

Taylors Lake president Tammy McDonald said it was an opportunity to bring some new faces to Dock Lake.

"We're definitely looking to showcase our club and get spectators through the gate that potentially might not have come to a Taylors Lake game before," McDonald said.

"Daniel has a lot to give. He has a lot of different experiences across his career, which is something we're really excited about, and hearing what he has to say."
