Volunteers are on duty outside the TAB entrance to the Stawell Trotting Club and also the Gift Hotel to accept spare change as punters come to try their luck.
For more than 20 years Lions Club volunteers have raised money for the Cancer Council of Victoria through the public holiday fundraiser.
Organiser Peter Martin said volunteers looked forward to the event each year.
"We have regulars who look for us each year and who are happy to assist in funding life-saving research by Cancer Victoria," he said.
"Many members have personal experience of cancer and they were passionate in giving up time each Cup Day to support vital research."
He said the club was grateful to the management of both venues for their support.
"We hope we can surpass last year's total of $508.30 now we are back to two sites again," he said.
Mr Martin said if anyone would like information he could be reached on 0408 581865.
