Perched atop a ridge along Old Coast Rd are some buxom pairs of bosoms - the latest side-splitting shenanigan from the Pink Up Macksville crew.

"We wanted to do something that would cause a stir, and get people talking," organiser Joy Sheather said.

They've certainly got tongues wagging, with pictures of the tantalising tatas already creating a viral sensation on social media.

"When we were putting them up just before the long weekend, we had that many trucks honking at us - tooooot toooooot they were going - it was outrageous," she said.

The idea was hatched by our very own McGrath Breast Care Nurse, Carolyn Cross. And the fantastic four ran with it - enlisting the help of some gracious gents.

Col Wood and Brendon Frewen threw their hat into the ring, donating a pair of round bales each, which Brendon then delivered to site along with some fashionably pink baling plastic.

Add a few bows and voilà - a couple of south and north-facing knockers for all to ogle.

The bales are destined to become 'booby prizes' and will be auctioned at the end of the month at the Macksville Saleyards.

But organisers Dawn Cooper and Joy Sheather say the real win here is not so much the fundraising but the awareness raising.

The women have been blown away by the enthusiasm the campaign has generated in the town, with most local businesses now proudly flying their pink ribbons.

"I'm guessing the response has been so good out there because people realise it could be them or their wives, sisters, daughters, mothers, who get diagnosed with breast cancer next," Joy said.

"It just affects that many people - everyone knows someone who's had it or has it."

And Dawn said she's grateful that so many have willingly opened their wallets as well, with the campaign already achieving its $5000 target only half the way through October.

"Everyone's doing it hard at the moment, and they're all just opening their hearts up to us," she said.

"We've been so blessed with people donating."

All the funds raised will go directly to funding the free services the McGrath Breast Care Nurses provide across the country.

Tonight the Macksville Hotel (Bonsers) will host their Pink Curry and Quiz night.

There's a Pink High Tea at Cafe Zen (Fairway Gardens) on Thursday from 10am, and later that evening there's a Pink Seafood Raffle at the Macksville Ex-Services Club.

On Friday the Lions are hosting a sausage sizzle outside Foodworks, and the Ex-Servies is also holding a Pink Cocktail Night from 5.30pm.

Next Wednesday One3 on Wallace (The Department Store) is hosting an in-store stall.

And Roses Cafe, Remnant Basket and Hanging By A Thread are all accepting entries into the bra decorating competition for a gold coin donation until the 23^rd.

Next Friday is the Gala Day along the river bank with live music, stalls and speeches, and competitions and raffles galore.

Then on Saturday the 26^th the Macksville Hotel will be auctioning off some beautiful paintings hanging on their walls by artists Carlene Lillford and Marilyn Bennett.

And, finally, the Chinese restaurant will be holding their own pink fundraising dinner on the 29^th.

So there's still plenty of action in Macksville this month, and many ways you can support the cause.
