Jordyn Burke and Rhona Conboy will serve as co-coaches for the 2020 Wimmera Football League season.
Horsham's football director Terry Arnel said the appointments were a 'good fit for the club'.
"We'd been working on a bit of a succession plan with Rhona coming in there (coaching) for the past three years," he said.
"Jordy has to be cautious with his playing future, and he wanted to be involved with the club, so this was a good fit."
The Demons stalwart told the Mail-Times he was going to hang up the boots.
"I won't be playing. It will be a purely non-playing role. Just with the injury and more the age thing as well. It's time to move on to other things, and we've got plenty of blokes that can fill that void," Burke said.
"I'd prefer to help them get to a stage where they're the next ones."
Burke guided Horsham to a premiership as a coach in 2014, before taking on the top job at North Ballarat City in 2016 and 2017.
"Having coached before you probably have a little bit more of a scope on what to expect. But it's a whole different group, and that's probably the exciting part," he said.
"I've known Rhona since he sort of started at the footy club and I was really excited to not only coach but also to offer a bit of guidance to him."
Arnel said the future of outgoing co-coach Deek Roberts was unclear, with the star expected to leave.
"We had hoped he would be around the club for a fourth year, but I don't think that will be the case anymore, which is a shame," he said.
"His time at the club has been magnificent. In all three years, he's had a coaching capacity. The first two he helped deliver us premierships and even in the third, when we were knocked around by injuries, he helped us fight it out right till the end.
"We would have loved to get that fourth year out of him, but it wasn't meant to be."
Tim Wade will stay around the club as a player, as well as stepping into a behind-the-scenes role.
"He's taken on a role within the football department, so that's a big plus for us to keep him and his family here and involved," Arnel said.
"He's been great the time he's been here, and he's looking to get involved in some of the off-field stuff, which is super critical."
