Running across September 21 to October 4, Parks Victoria will run ranger-hosted events, self-guided activities, as well as the All Fired Up event at the Royal Melbourne Show with Ranger Roo.
The events are free for children aged 6 to 12 and encourage participants to get outdoors, learn about nature, and better understand Victoria's wonderful plants, wildlife and amazing natural and cultural heritage.
For those who can't attend in person, Parks Victoria has organised a Spring Bioblitz on October 3 and 4, which is a fun community-driven, self-guided online nature survey.
Participants can grab a camera or smartphone and head into one of the parks to record the plants and animals they encounter.
By participating in the Bioblitz, families will help scientists better understand the amazing array of life in Victoria's parks.
Parks Victoria education and interpretation officer James Adams said the variety of activities on offer these school holidays would engage children and families in exploring the natural world around them.
"The Spring Bioblitz is all about fostering kids' natural enthusiasm for discovery by providing a fun, hands-on opportunity to contribute to nature conservation," he said.
"The data collected will be used by Parks Victoria's science team to better understand the amazing diversity of life within our parks which will help us protect it."
All activities are free but bookings are essential and children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
Visit the website juniorrangers.com.au for details about all these activities including dates and locations, and to register your attendance for a ranger-hosted activity.
