In the senior football, Harrow-Balmoral coach Nick Pekin will be firmly in contention for a second Dellar Medal after taking home the award in 2018.
Pekin however said he was expecting an even spread of votes among the Southern Roos' star players.
"We've had some exceptional players this season and they're all going to take votes off each other," he said.
"You've got Michael and Simon Close, Eric Guthrie, Cody Deutscher, Pete Staude, Michael Phelan has had an unreal year, Will Plush ... the list goes on. I doubt anyone from our club will get it."
In a survey of every district league coach, Eric Guthrie was one contender widely tipped to take plenty of votes off of Pekin.
Three coaches couldn't split Guthrie and Pekin as the favourite for the award, while one other tipped Pekin for the outright win.
Taylors Lake coach Brandon Weatherson said the duo were hard to look past.
"I reckon Eric Guthrie and Nick Pekin are probably the best two players in the competition - they would have to be up there." Weatherson said.
"As a bit of a smoky, I'd say Peter Weir from Jeparit-Rainbow could go close. He's kicked bags of goals, and will probably poll three votes every time he kicks six or more."
Weir has booted five or more goals on seven occasions this season.
Another big man tipped to go close was Edenhope-Apsley's Jak Ryan, who finished equal third last season. Ryan was tipped by two opposition coaches to claim the medal this time around.
Last season's runner-up Sam Anson could also be in contention. Anson secured 15 votes and a runners-up finish in 2018, despite playing only 11 games. Anson managed 15 this season, and was named his side's best on five occasions.
Other players to receive tips from coaches were Noradjuha-Quantong's Dustin Cross, Rupanyup's Elliot Kelly and Swifts' Ryan Folkes.
For the A Grade netball, coaches were mostly split on finding a favourite, but one reoccurring name among conversations was Harrow-Balmoral coach Ebonie Salter.
Salter missed a large portion of 2018 after having a child in March, but still managed to finish in fourth place, just four votes behind winner Brooke Pay from Noradjuha-Quantong.
In addition to Salter, Laharum trio Cailtlin Story, Maddi and Ema Iredell also received nominations.
"I can't just pick one - either Maddi or Ema Iredell," said Pimpinio coach Renee Clarkson.
"Both make for coaching match-up nightmares."
Kalkee's Jenna Bywaters and Edenhope-Apsley's Ellie Thomas were also tipped to take home the award.
