FIDA western region's season has come to a close with a carnival day, incorporating the grand final at North Park on Sunday. The Grampians Giants went up against Wimmera Whippets in not ideal weather conditions.

The apparent temperature didn't get above 2 degrees for most of the day, the ground, heavy underfoot. The Whippets were too strong for the Giants, who were undermanned and had some players in Ballarat filling in.
Just before half time, a great show of sportsmanship was on display.
A player went down in the goal square and was helped off the ground by two of his teammates. Six football teams in total competed, Ballarat Bulldogs and Hamilton Boomers in the grand final of the season.
The Boomers came away winners, 26 to Bulldogs 19. Boomers were held scoreless in the last but the late surge by the Bulldogs wasn't enough to get over the line.
Three netball teams played on the courts - with the ball swirling around as it went towards the ring.
