Police executed a search warrant at an Ararat address on Saturday, arresting a 37-year-old man in relation to a theft from Latus Jewellers on the previous Monday.
"The male entered the jewellers on Barkley Street, Ararat at about 9.30am and asked to view some jewellery," Ararat Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Mal Wineberg said.
"The owner was showing him two bracelets and a ring valued at approximately $2000 when he took them and ran out the store without paying."
Detective Senior Constable Wineberg said the man will face charges relating to the incident, but the stolen items are yet to be located.
"The two bracelets and ring are still outstanding. If anyone in the public has further information of their whereabouts they should contact Crime Stoppers or Ararat Police."
A 34-year-old man was also charged by police when the warrant was executed at the weekend. He will face firearms offences after police located a homemade firearm at the property.
