The FreeZa initiative provides young people with an opportunity to take the lead in programming and delivering safe, relevant, affordable and creative music and cultural events, responding to the needs of youth in the community.
Grampians Community Health, Stawell Neighbourhood House and Stawell Performing Arts Company inc will host a brainstorming session on July 27 to gauge the interest levels of young people and what projects they would like to put on the agenda moving into the future.
The gathering will provide an opportunity to discuss the events that already occur in Stawell, Halls Gap, St Arnaud, Great Western and Navarre and how they can develop more ideas into reality.
Grampians Community Health FreeZa project worker Melissa Mair said there is a wealth of talent in the community from putting on events, working in light and sound to performing.
"We are looking to tap into this experience and look at ways to mentor the next generation. We are very pleased to have the skills of Carly Flecknoe, festival director of The Grampians Music Festival since 2017, who will facilitate the Gathering of ideas and pass on some insights into the world of running a music festival," she said.
The opportunity to contribute ideas to help shape future events for Stawell and the surrounding community is available to people aged between 12 and 25 years old.
The 'FreeZa gathering' will be held at Stawell Neighbourhood House on July 27 from 10am until 3pm, with more information available on the GCH website.
