Deakin University Female Football League under 18 team hosted AFL Goldfields at Mortlake's D.C Farran Oval in an inaugural representative match.
The DUFFL went down 6.7 (43) to 3.2 (20) with Stawell's Crystal Summers kicking two goals for the Deakin side.
DUFFL co-coach Fraser Robinson said the match was played in great spirit and there were good skills on display.
"It was a really good hit-out," he said.
He was impressed because his team hadn't even trained together prior to the match.
"I'm proud of the girls for their team effort," he said.

Robinson said Horsham Saints tall Kayetlan Harris was a standout in the ruck.
Meanwhile, AFL Goldfields' declared South Warrnambool's Stella Bridgewater best player for the DUFFL side.
The officials awarded Goldfield's Amber Mifsud best on ground.
Meanwhile, the DUFFL chose Goldfield's Lara Beggs as best player.
AFL Western District operations coordinator Alicia Drew said it was a great step for female football in the south-west.
"It was a very good opportunity for the girls to represent their league," she said.
