Former player Aiden Marr has called out to the community to come forward and help re-established the once thriving club, the Wildcats.
The Wildcats pulled their men's and women's team from the 2017-18 competition mainly due to a lack of numbers.
But Marr said despite potential player numbers, filling positions on the committee was the highest priority.
"We need a minimum of five for a committee and then we can start to organise everything else," he said.
"Preferably we would like people to join the committee who aren't players. They could be parents of children currently playing basketball and interested in pursuing basketball at a higher level."
Marr said the 2019-20 season was fast approaching.
"The season starts around October and we will have deadlines to meet," he said.
"We have some financials to get things up and running, now we just need the commitment to reinstate the sport at this level, back into the community."

About 30 children participate in basketball activities in Stawell, the amount which Marr said has dropped off over recent years.
"There isn't any pathways to go now with the sport like there was," he said.
"In years gone past kids would play in the domestic competition and try to secure their spots into the representative sides to go away for tournaments.
"Now, once they are too old for the domestic competition they go and find another sport to play so they can continue being active within the town."
Marr said he was travelling to Ballarat every week to play basketball to keep his skill base at a higher standard.
"The men's competition in Stawell has dropped off as well," he said.
"It's disappointing a sport which was really popular has taken a dive but hopefully we can get something happening again.
"We will be trying to encourage younger players to continue with their basketball.
"We know we need to start at the beginning again and develop our younger players into players for the future of basketball in Stawell."
Marr said he was hoping to get an annual general meeting scheduled within the next month and if anyone was interested in helping out in any way to contact him.
