The two sides clashed at Dimboola where they also faced off against some wet weather.
Warriors coach Tracey Dark said the game was pretty tight.
"We were only four goals down at quarter time," she said.
"We had quite a few turnovers in the first quarter. We obviously had some for us as well but we turned the ball over a few times and they scored from them. I said to the girls 'tidy that up.'
"At second quarter the ratio was so much higher for and against and we came back.
"We were four goals up at half time, so we had an eight goal turn around in that quarter."
Dark said the turnover rate increased again in the third quarter and the side ended up down by eight goals at three quarter time.
Dark said she was proud of her players for giving their all in every game.
"A few things went against them but they dug deep and fought back, which I was really impressed with," she said.
"It's easy to win but not so easy to lose. Being gracious in a win - a lot of people are good at that but if you can still show a bit of character in losing, it's pleasing."
Dimboola coach Danni Taylor agreed the game was tight, but said her side's ability to adjust to the rain that arrived mid-game helped them out.
"That was the biggest difference in the end," she said.
"The last few minutes of the third quarter we got a bit of a run on and we were able to keep the momentum into the fourth quarter. Billie (Barber), our captain, got best on.
"She shot really well and her defensive pressure did really well for us. She got a number of turnovers straight back in that mid-court."
