Laharum came out with a point to prove and really put the pressure on the Baggies early.
Swifts turned the contest around halfway through the first term, adjusted their game and went into quarter-time with confidence, after levelling the scoreline.
Laharum was down a man by quarter time, with returning player Riley Lenehan receiving a cut from a player's stop on his leg and was taken to hospital.
Laharum tried to convert when they got their hands on the ball in the second quarter but the Swifts stopped the visiting team's every opportunity.
The Baggies controlled the game and the tempo and had a convincing 42 point lead, kicking 6.6 to nothing in the second quarter.
Laharum rallied after half-time, kicking the first goal but it was all too little, too late. Swifts dominated the scoring and was proving to be a tough matchup for the Dees.
Goal after goal, Swifts kept growing the margin out, to Laharum's credit they fought hard around the contests until the very end.
Swifts co-coach Scott Carey said he was impressed with how the Baggies turned the first quarter around to get the momentum of the game.
"We realised if he put our head over the ball we would win it and go from there," he said.
"Looking at the scores, it was in the second half we kicked a bit straighter, that could be a bit of a hangover from last week.
"We want to put pressure on during the game's contest but we are also after that scoreboard pressure every game."
Carey said he was happy with the ball movement from the players through centre-half-forward.
"It's the way we want to play," he said.
"Straight - and the quickest way home possible.
"On a personal note, Angus Murray's game, he has really been able to give us something. The way he has settled in at halfback gives us another string to our bow coming into the second half of the season."
Murray played against Laharum's coach Tom Crawford and held the forward goalless for the game.
Carey was also impressed with Brett Hargreaves game across half-forward.
Swifts' Matt Bourke was moved into the ruck in the second half, allowing Baggie's talls Hargreaves and Matt Healy to move up forward.
"Nick Pickering was also a standout to me. He came back into the side and straight back into the doing what he does best," Carey said.
