George and Kids Fish and Chips finished among the top 20 fish and chipperies in Victoria at the Australian Fish and Chips Awards.
The Fisheries Research Development Corporation once again ran the competition this year, with members of the public voting for their favourite fish and chip shops.
Voting closed on Friday, with Stawell's George and Kids finishing in 17th spot for stores in Victoria.
"We are ecstatic - not just for us but for the town," shop owner George Kondis said.
"It is nice to be able to put Stawell's name up there in a competition like this, it's a real honour."
Business co-owner Antoinette Kondis said she believes being relatable to customers is a key to their business.
"They trust us because we do everything to the best of our ability," she said.
"We are very lucky we have good staff who work hard. As a family business we all work together and I think we are relatable to a lot of people.
"It is about reliability, trust and respect."
Final award winners for the competition will be announced in October.
George and Kids was the only shop from the Wimmera able to be voted for.
"We might not have finished as high as others but for a small town like Stawell to get where we did I think is a big deal," Mr Kondis said.
