Work will commence on the construction off food tech and science wings from Monday, with a soil turnover ceremony taking place last Thursday.
The current food tech and science buildings will be knocked down during the construction process.
The works continue the school's forward momentum, with acting principal Carlos Lopez signing on to stay at the school at the start of term two.
"A good robust school's culture lives regardless of its buildings," Mr Lopez said.
"Facilities are important but it is crucial to build that culture regardless of where we teach.
"The two new buildings will congeal the school a bit more and ensure we can offer a strong program for all students."
The construction process is expected to take between 12 and 18 months.
"It is exciting but I won't be happy until it is all finished," Mr Lopez said.
Mr Lopez wa previously assistant principal at Horsham College and comes with a range of previous teaching experience from Melbourne and overseas.
He said he has put in place a five year vision for the school.
"Part of my aim is to ensure our community has a sustainable school and we provide the best education service to the community we can," he said.
"We need buy in from staff, parents and students and through that I think we can achieve better outcomes for everyone.
"There is plenty to work on but it is an exciting time ahead."
