The Ararat kinder was rated as 'exceeding national quality standard' by the department.
The report stated 'the service has demonstrated strength in a number of quality areas, including educational program and practice, relationships with children, and collaborative partnerships with families and communities.'
Director Kara Bartlett said the kinder will continue building on those areas.
"We are currently in the process of extending our kindergarten yard to develop a natural play-scape that will support our kitchen garden program and strong emphasis on sustainability," she said.
"We seek to better the lives of our community members by providing programming that empowers them to grow their own food, teaches them about sustainable growing methods and encourages them to make healthy food choices."
