THE Mallee electorate has remained a sea of dark green following the weekend's federal election despite a significant swing away from the National Party.

Incoming Member for Mallee Anne Webster received the highest number of votes on a two-party preferred basis - compared to Labor's Carole Hart - at all of the electorate's 102 polling booths.
Australian Electoral Commission data currently shows Dr Webster sitting on 66.82 per cent of votes on a two-party preferred basis, while Ms Hart is on 33.18 per cent.
However, the National Party is on track to record 26 per cent fewer first preference votes compared to the 2016 election.
As of Monday 80 per cent of the votes have been counted. Dr Webster has so far received 29.5 per cent of first preference votes.

Liberal candidate Serge Petrovich has received 17.64 per cent of first preference votes, Labor candidate Carole Hart has received 15.10 per cent, Independent candidate Jason Modica has received 10.37 per cent, and Independent candidate Ray Kingston has received 9.48 per cent.
Dr Webster received the most first preference votes at all of Horsham's five voting booths.

She received 2590 first preference votes at the Horsham pre-polling voting centre on Firebrace Street. It was the most popular voting location in the town with 9960 votes cast.
Mr Petrovich received the second highest number of votes with 1900, while Independent candidate Ray Kingston received 1545 and Labor candidate Carole Hart received 1265.
At the Horsham West Primary School voting booth Dr Webster received 308 first preference votes, Mr Kingston received 241 votes, Mr Petrovich received 150 votes, Ms Hart received 132 votes, and Shooters, Farmers and Fishers candidate Dan Straub received 52 votes.

North of Horsham at Horsham Primary School's Rasmussen Campus, Dr Webster received 156 first preference votes, Ms Hart received 111 votes, Mr Kingston received 97 votes, Mr Petrovich received 91 votes and Mr Straub received 54 votes.
Dr Webster received the most first preference votes in the towns of Kaniva, Nhill, Edenhope, Hopetoun, Dimboola, Donald, Natimuk, Apsley, Goroke, Harrow, Birchip, Rainbow and Jeparit.
Former Yarrimabick Shire mayor Ray Kingston received the most first preference votes in Warracknabeal, Murtoa, Minyip and his hometown of Rupanyup.
Liberal candidate Serge Petrovich received the most first preference votes in St Arnaud with 327, compared to Dr Webster's 325 votes.
