Dignan will go into the third round with an 11 shot lead on Wednesday.
Shooting a round one score of 88 and following it with an 86 in the second, Dignan said she will head into the third round hoping for a score around the same mark.
"If I shoot a score around 88 I will be happy," she said.
"The course is starting to soften up a bit and there isn't as much run. I know if I shoot a score around 88 I would have played good golf and that's all I can hope for really."
Only taking up the sport three and a half years ago, Dignan has now become one of the lower handicap female players at the club.
"I played basketball all my life, coached, refereed and volunteered," she said.
"When I got too old to play basketball I wasn't sure what I wanted to do.
"I wanted to continue to play sport - I love the social side of all sports and playing alongside your friends."
Dignan saw a window of opportunity after spending time with two of her three sons Jayden and Kyle at the course while receiving lessons.
"Two of my sons plays golf and I would go watch them play in competitions and practice. When Tim Coffey moved to Stawell they both had lessons with him," she said.
"Both Jayden and Tim encouraged me to have a hit and from there it just stuck.
"Tim offered to coach me for 12 months and show me the right techniques and really got my golf game going."
A far cry from her first ever score of 146 off the stick, Dignan is a former B Grade club champion and is the 2018 Wimmera sandscrape champion.
"I will never forget my first official round of golf," she said.
"I got in the bunker on the third and had 16 shots on my first hole - eight, just to get out of the bunker.
"I never gave up. I knew I could do better and just tried to improve every time I played a round of golf."
Heading into the third round of the championships, Dignan said she will just keep it simple and stick to her plan.
"I am a superstitious person but I am going to keep it simple," she said.
"I'll play my normal amount of golf and not try to change too much before the last round.
"I have the Wimmera championships coming up in June. I know I have to do work on my short game before then but for now, I will just concentrate on playing consistent golf."
