The 94-year-old resident lives in Eventide Homes and is looking forward to attending the Stawell Gift in 2019.
Mrs Goodson's late husband, Ronald, was the president of the Stawell Athletic Club in 1969 but her ties with the iconic event stem even further back.
"I worked for an accountant in the Main Street," she said.
"We all worked in some way or another for the Stawell Gift - it was to make Stawell the place it is today.
"The Stawell Gift is a big part of making Stawell the town it is over many many years."
Mrs Goodson said she was honoured the year she presented the sash.
"As I was the president's wife, it was a great honour to present the sash," she said
Mrs Goodson remembers a conversation between business people and the treasurer of the Stawell Athletic Club a very long time ago.
"I remember him saying 'let it be a fact known to you, if it wasn't for the Stawell Gift, none of you would be here today'," she said.
"We used to get over-run with many visitors and still do. There was a special train which came to the town just to bring the crowd to town.
"It brought a lot of money into the town businesses over the years."
A highlight of many years of attending the Stawell Gift was meeting Max Walker.
"He attended one year and it was a really big thrill," she said.
"You always met people like that at the gift, people came from all walks of life."
Marie Pollock, also in her 90's, said she remembers when her family went to everything that was on at the time.
"There have been lots of favourite memories and special times," she said.
"We always went to the Gift, we would never miss out on that. It's a great way to catch up with people. I have also volunteered in various ways over the years."
